Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Psalms 103:2
I don’t know about you but sometimes I need to be reminded of all that the Lord has done in my life. I think about the Israelites wandering in the desert for 40 years. From this side of the story, I want to yell at them; “People! God brought you to freedom! He gave you water from a rock, manna in the desert. He opened the seas so you could pass through and drowned the chariots as they went after you! Why are you murmuring in the wilderness when you should be praising God?”
But then I remember my own past, filled with mistakes and sin. My own complaints. Who am I to scold the Israelites from this place in the future? Haven’t I, too, forgotten all his benefits?
Thank you, God for keeping me humble. When life gets tough, and the darkness attempts to oppress me, remind me of all that you’ve done for me. Shine your light into the darkness. I confess my negative thoughts. Help me live out Psalms 103:2. For I will bless the LORD, O my soul and remember that you are always good to me! Amen.
