The Depths of God's Love

Cindy Dullum

“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.” I’m trying to imagine the depths of God’s love . . . to reach up and grasp the hand of the One who loves me. How wide . . . Psalms 103:12 “As far as the east is from the west so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” He stretched out his arm as if to say “I love you this much!” Then he died so that we could live. How long . . . Jeremiah 31:3 “I have loved you with an everlasting love, I have drawn you with loving kindness.” How long? Everlasting. Always. Forever. Eternal. How high . . . Psalms 103:11 “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him.” How deep . . . Psalms 42:7 “Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls, all your waves and breakers have swept over me.” In my deepest places, God speaks to me. In our darkest moments, He calls our name. Dear Lord, Root and establish us in your love, we pray. Grant us the power to grasp how wide, how long, how high and how deep is your love. Help us to be an extension of your love on earth. Thank you for your Words that proclaim your wonderful love to us! Thank you for love.
